Testimonials

Rachel

Could not recommend these guys more! We had such a great experience and everyone who worked here was so warm and friendly. We came for a 4D scan and brought our little boy to see his baby brother. At first he found it a little overwhelming, however, everyone here made my son feel so relaxed and he was able to see his brother in the scan. The photos that were captured were beautiful and everything was explained to us in such great detail. Thank you everyone for such a great experience that our family won't forget.

Leah

Just had the most amazing sneak peek gender scan at the original window to the womb Nottingham. I’ve had several scans and I have to say this was by far my best experience. Everyone was so incredibly lovely and welcoming, and so thorough in explaining everything and making me feel at ease and reassured. Could not recommend more, can’t thank the ladies working there enough, you’re all incredible!!

Maryam

Had the nicest experience today with the team at Nottingham they were the friendliest and funniest bunch, so kind and reassuring, I felt so comfortable and at ease! They honestly went the extra mile and I can’t thank the team enough! Will definitely be coming back in a few weeks and recommending everyone else to book in too! Got to take some amazing freebies and gift bags away with us which was the nicest touch! Not to mention how clean and beautiful the inside was, such a comforting environment. Thanks once again!

How early can i visit The Original Window To The Womb?

we understand how crucial it is for expectant parents to feel supported and reassured throughout pregnancy. We offer scans from 12 weeks.

Yes, tours can be arranged by appointment through our front desk or via our website.

When do you recommend coming for 4D, 5D - HDLIVE scan?

We recommend between 28 and 32 weeks!

Your baby now has beautiful chubby cheeks and is using all sorts of facial expressions! It also gives us plenty of time to bring you back we cannot get the desired images 1st time round!

Anterior placenta? we recommend between 31 – 33 weeks. Baby will be a great size and your placenta will have risen up and out of the way.

We offer pregnancy yoga, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding workshops, and newborn care classes.

What happens at a 4D scan with The Original Window to the Womb?

We begin in 2D, similar to a hospital scan, and the NHS trained sonographer will check on your baby. We don’t look for abnormalities, but if we notice something concerning, we’ll refer you to your NHS hospital through our pathway policy.

You’ll see and hear your baby’s heartbeat, from 15 weeks, and we can determine the baby’s sex from three angles. We’ll explain why we think it’s a boy or girl. If you prefer not to know the sex, we simply won’t check. Want us to write it down. No problem, just let us know on arrival and we can arrange this for you.

Next, we’ll prepare for the 4D scan, which depends on the baby’s position and the amount of fluid in front of the face. The more fluid, the better the images. You’ll see your baby’s movements and facial expressions. It’s hard to tell if the baby is awake or sleeping since they move a lot, and rarely have their eyes open, though they might blink occasionally.

If the baby is face down or behind the placenta, it can be hard to get good images. In that case, we might ask you to change position, take a walk, eat chocolate, or drink something to encourage movement. If the position is good, you’ll see your baby’s face, so relax and enjoy this precious moment. If we can obtain images on the day, well invite you back for a FREE rescan.

What if we cannot get any images or the scan is'nt very good?

Many things are important in getting good clear images of your baby. We use a state-of-the-art Voluson ultrasound scanner that is used in most bonding studios.

Fetal position plays a large part and we do all we can to encourage baby to turn our way for the best pictures. To encourage babies activities we suggest a little fresh orange juice or lemonade just before your appointment, but no caffeine or a heavy meal. If for any reason we are unable to do your scan at your appointment time we encourage you to take a stroll around before trying again, if that doesn’t work we will rearrange your appointment and try again.

We offer pregnancy yoga, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding workshops, and newborn care classes.

When can i find the gender of my baby?

The earliest you can have a gender scan is 15 weeks. Before this time sexing baby is unreliable and we always aim to provide you the right answer! Why does 24 hours make such a difference? Good question. Baby actually grows the fastest between weeks 15-16 so every day makes a huge difference. Just think, at this stage we are looking for girl/boy bits that are smaller than your little fingernail!

3D/4D ultrasounds provide more detailed, realistic images of your baby, compared to the traditional 2D scans. These scans are just as safe as regular ultrasounds and are performed using the same sound wave technology.

How many people can I bring with me?

Your entire family are more than welcome to attend. – All ages.

Our studio is fully equipped, including wheelchair access and an accessible restroom.

We offer lactation consulting and breastfeeding workshops led by certified experts to support new mothers.

Do i need a full bladder?

You can eat and drink normally before your baby scan.

We recommend drinking two extra glasses of water each day for 6-7 days to improve the results.

It’s crucial to have a full bladder between 12 weeks and 26 weeks.

This pushes the baby up and out of your pelvis and improves the clarity and quality of the images we capture. Scanning through the bladder also helps with this.

I don't want to know the gender of my baby?

Yes, of course!

You do not have to find the gender on any of our scans including our sneak peek gender scan.

Please make our staff aware when you arrive and we will simply not look.
